Published to accompany the two-part exhibition Heavy Metal at Albion Jeune, London, and Albion Barn & Fields, Oxfordshire, this publication explores a dialogue between the pioneering sculpture of Anthony Caro and the innovative contemporary practice of James Capper.

Bringing together artists from different generations, Heavy Metal traces the evolution of British sculpture from Caro’s revolutionary use of industrial materials in the 1960s to Capper’s exploration of engineering, hydraulics and biomimicry today. Featuring installation views, essays and illustrations of exhibited works, the publication examines Caro’s enduring legacy and its continued influence on contemporary sculptural practice.

The publication includes an essay by Deyan Sudjic, writer and former Director of the Design Museum, reflecting on the significance of this cross-generational conversation and the continuing relevance of Caro’s contribution to modern sculpture.
